The ‘Gun Float’ was created by Jacques Tilly for the Rose Monday Carnival procession in Dusseldorf on 4th March 2017. It was then procured by the Unite for Europe team (Peter French and Tim Evans) specifically for the Unite for Europe protest march of 25th March 2017.
However, as a result of the terrorist incident at Westminster Bridge and Parliament on the 24th March, it was decided not to deploy the Float on the march due to public sensitivity. Instead a Tour of the UK was planned and separately crowdfunded, but as a result of damage incurred by the rather fragile construction, only events in London (around Parliament) and in Norwich took place. The Float sustained irreparable damage as it was driven unprotected on a flat-bed truck and was then left to rot in a garden to the west of London by the driver Steve Bray. RIP.
